Richard Sherman will join the inaugural season of Thursday Night Football on Amazon’s Prime Video as an analyst.

The five-time pro bowler, three-time AP All-Pro, and 2013 Super Bowl Champion will be joined by NFL Hall of Famer and former NFL on FOX analyst Tony Gonzalez. Al Michaels and ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit will be the commentators.

Sherman played for 11 seasons with three different teams. He played for seven seasons with the Seattle Seahawks where he helped lead the team to a Super Bowl title in the 2013 season. He then played for the San Francisco 49ers for three seasons, and then was traded to Tampa Bay. He only played five games with the Bucs due to hamstring and calf injuries.

He provided an explanation as to why he’s taking a chance at sports broadcasting.

“I feel like it’s important for players to continue to push the game forward and educate the fans through real experience and real intellect and trying to take them even deeper into the game. I think you try to simplify it as much as you can for them, but I think the more informed and educated the fans are, the better the experience is. You want to help them understand their team, understand why this touchdown happened, understand why this big run happened, understand why this interception happened, and I think I can do that.”

Now the veteran cornerback may have a new occupation, but he hasn’t ruled out a possible return to the league. In an interview with the NFL Network on Tuesday, Sherman has made it clear that he will leave the door open for the opportunity to play again.

“I’m obviously going to keep training and staying in shape but gotta take the opportunities when they’re there, and this is an amazing opportunity with Amazon, so I couldn’t pass it up. But I’m going to leave that door open; if somebody wants to call in late December and needs some help, I’m happy to help.”
