About Me

Hello There! Welcome to my blog!

My name is Giovanna Morales, and I am the creator of Gridiron Gigi, my blog for all things football.

I started this blog in 2020 as a way to start my path to be a full-time sports blogger/journalist. I have always believed that I could belong in that world as a writer, not an athlete. Football is something that I have always loved since childhood. I would skim through the sports section of newspapers and find the Miami Dolphins on the cover of the section during football season. I simply to play a part in that world because there was no other world I felt like I belonged in.

My first pursuit is sports writing started in The Crimson White, the college newspaper of the University of Alabama. Even if I only reported on other sports (not football), that’s when I knew that being a journalist was what I wanted to do. However, I figured it would be tough to make it into the writing world even after I graduated in 2016. I went on to do online content writing gigs before I went on a hiatus for three years.

I was driven to write about football. I didn’t want to give up on the pursuit of a career in sports journalism no matter how big or small, and now here I am ready to go public with this blog.

This blog contains previews of big games of the week and top news on all things happening in the NFL and college football. From huge rivalries to events like the Super Bowl and the National Championship, I blog about it. Big stories in either league? I blog about it. I have even blogged a little about spring football (mostly the XFL and USFL).

Whether it’s during the season or in the offseason, I will cover what there is to cover. Just call me Gridiron Gigi.
