The NFL kicks off their 2025 season with the Dallas Cowboys taking on one of their greatest rivals and reigning Super Bowl champions the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cowboys’ Offseason: The Quick Recap

It has been quite the offseason in the world of the Cowboys: A new head coach, newly drafted players, and a star defensive player traded away.

First, Brian Schottenheimer enters his first season as Dallas’s new head coach. Then, came the group of new faces drafted to the team. Although, these rookies are in need of more training after the team’s performances during preseason.

The biggest story of the Cowboys’ offseason, however, was the shocking trade of Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. It left fans like me and plenty of analysts puzzled and stunned, and it still does. In my opinion, the fact that the franchise (more specifically, Jerry Jones) allowed their constant delaying of contract talks with Parsons turn into negligence is what lead to this. Shameful, indeed.

Cowboys vs. Eagles: Final Prediction

Since the Parsons trade drama, any hope there would be for the Cowboys this season seems to have disappeared. Preseason didn’t help them much, but it showed that their defense is going to have a lot of challenges to face now that they don’t have their best defensive player.

The only positives right now is that DaRon Bland, another one of their best defensives, was signed to a contract extension just a few days ago, and that Trevon Diggs is set to play. The real question is will the new defense will be good enough to push through the Eagles? I’m leaving that up to fate, but I don’t think they will be kind to Dallas on this one.

The Eagles, on the other hand, are looking better and more than ready to play. In fact, they are so focused on the upcoming season, they don’t care that the 2024 championship banner will be raised on the same night. They’re putting the past in the past and focusing on the present.

As a Cowboys fan, I don’t have the highest expectations for the team right now, let alone this Cowboys vs. Eagles matchup. Maybe they might change my mind later on, maybe they won’t. For now, things do not look good.

Final Score: Cowboys 9, Eagles 31
