The biggest game in football is here! Super Bowl LIX will see the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles facing off with both teams looking to make history in a rematch two years in the making.

History in the Making…Again

Almost every Super Bowl matchup is bound to have some historical meaning. This will be one for the history books for two reasons.

First, Eagles QB Jalen Hurts will be seeking his first major championship once again. Second, the Chiefs look to make NFL history by becoming the first team in the league to win three consecutive Super Bowl titles.

As mentioned at the beginning, these teams met two years ago in Super Bowl LVII. That year, the Eagles were staying ahead of the game until Kansas City fought back in the fourth quarter. They took the lead with less than 10 minutes left before the Eagles tied the game at 35 a piece thanks to Hurts.

Finally, with eight seconds left, Harrison Butker made one final field goal. The game ended 38-35, giving them their third Super Bowl win in the franchise. It was also the first win on their quest for a three-peat they never thought they were going for.

If they win, Kansas City will achieve something that not even the great Tom Brady could do at his prime.

What Should be Expected

One of the many things to expect for this game is which dynamic duo will outperform the other. On one side, there is Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and TE Travis Kelce. The other side is Eagles’ Hurts and RB Saquon Barkley.

Since joining Philly this season, the 2024 Offensive Player of the Year has turned into the star that many people expected him to be. It’s only his first season with them, and he’s first in the league with 345 carries for 2,005 yards.

He will definitely play a factor into Philly’s quest for their second Super Bowl ever. However, the Chiefs defense will attempt to overwhelm him and the rest of the offense.

Speaking of the Chiefs, it’s no surprise that Mahomes had more ups than downs. Even if the team was caught in the middle of a conspiracy theory, they still found ways to stay on the winning side.

Super Bowl LIX: Final Prediction

The Eagles have come a long way since that crushing defeat to the Chiefs two years ago. Their offense has never looked stronger since Barkley arrived.

The Chiefs defense is strong, though. One person Hurts and Barkley better watch out for is DE George Karlaftis. He’s made three sacks in the postseason so far. However, Eagles LB Nolan Smith, Jr. leads the postseason with four sacks. Let’s see if he can keep Mahomes in check.

November 2023 was the very last time these two teams met. The Eagles won 21-17 that year as Hurts ran for two touchdowns to rally the team.

Their last few meetings have been decided by single digits, including their last Super Bowl meeting. This shows how almost equally matched these teams are. It’s no wonder some people can’t decide who’s more worthy of the Lombardi Trophy.

The Eagles have a chance to win their second-ever Super Bowl title. The Chiefs have a chance to accomplish a rare feat. Either way, someone is making history.

Final Score: Kansas City 31, Philadelphia 38
