The Dallas Cowboys will look to finally get a win at home when they face their division rival, the Philadelphia Eagles.
A Month Without Dak
Last week against Atlanta, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott suffered a hamstring injury and is now sidelined for about 4-6 weeks. He’s eligible to return on Dec. 9 when the Cowboys host the Cincinnati Bengals.
Prescott has been struggling for most of the regular season. So far, he’s had 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions, and he’s been sacked 21 times. He’s a reason why the team is caught in a current 3-game losing streak. He might’ve had close calls in the last two games, but it still ended with losses by less than 10 points.
Backup QB Cooper Rush is set to step up to the plate this Sunday with Trey Lance as the second backup. In the three games he’s played this season, he’s made 22 out of 39 attempts for 167 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
Rush’s last five QB starts all happened against Philadelphia when Prescott was unable to play due to injury.
Eagles vs. Cowboys: Final Prediction
It’s a new chapter of the Eagles vs. Cowboys rivalry, and this could lead to bad things for the Cowboys.
Rush hasn’t been the most reliable backup in the last few games. He’ll probably be an easy target for the Eagles. The offensive linemen have to protect him as much as possible. Plus, as long as he’s able to pass the ball with the right accuracy, then perhaps there’s hope.
Some questionable players for this big game are key defensive players Trevon Diggs, Micah Parsons, and DaRon Bland. At least one of them has to play, especially since DeMarcus Lawrence remains in the IR list. They have to find a way to deliver in this game since there will be moments where the offense could get discombobulated.
That could be easier said than done, especially when you have the dynamic duo of Eagles QB Jalen Hurts and RB Saquon Barkley. The same can be said for Hurts and his Bama teammate DeVonta Smith. If either Diggs, Parsons, Bland, or at least one of them is on the field on Sunday, the Cowboys defense will be fast and powerful enough to hold down Hurts, Barkley, and Smith.
However, it’s going to take a lot for Dallas to win this one. Philadelphia is on the verge of catching up to Washington, and they don’t want to lose that path.
