The undefeated Miami Hurricanes head to the Panhandle to take on their ACC archrival, the Florida State Seminoles.

Two of Florida’s Best

Miami and Florida State are two of college football’s best within the Sunshine State so far this season. This Saturday night, they will record another chapter in their historic rivalry.

Miami will enter this game still undefeated. Last week, they dominated the Florida Gators 26-7. They have been building themselves up to show the CFB that they’re worthy of being a national championship team once again. The offense has been strong with QB Carson Beck leading the way. He currently has a 73.2 percent completion rate for 972 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Florida State QB Tommy Castellanos has a 64.3 percent completion rate for 848 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions so far. They, too, want to show the CFB why they shouldn’t be overlooked either. They’re currently on top in overall offense and 2nd in rushing in the nation. Castellanos and RB Gavin Sawchuk (42 carries for 234 yards and six TDs) lead the Noles’ ground game.

Miami vs. Florida State: Final Thoughts and Prediction

The Hurricanes are the ones with the most to lose right now. Losing this game will give them their first loss, but more importantly, it will cause their third-place ranking to drop drastically. Some might call it a setback, but with the season almost halfway there, it would be foolish of them to get lazy.

Florida State might not be as confident as they were before. Last Thursday, the Virginia Cavaliers upset them 46-38 in two overtimes. However, this moment shouldn’t cloud the fact that this version of the Seminoles are tougher than they look. When you look at both teams’ offenses, Florida State has the better advantage in rushing and receiving than Miami does. Therefore, the Miami defense has to be smart when trying to stop them from all sides and angles.

A QB battle between Beck and Castellanos would be interesting to watch because, in my opinion, both men are close to being equally challenged on the field. Between the two, however, Beck has the better stats at QB right now, especially with his level of experience.

The Miami vs. Florida State games have been entertaining to watch lately. There is hardly a dull moment in this rivalry. Both sides have some history of crushing ones hopes and dreams for the postseason. Good luck to the one who gets the crushing defeat Saturday night.

Final Score: Miami 35, Florida State 28
