Cam Skattebo recovering from a broken ankle didn’t keep him out of the spotlight, and after appearing in the WWE, he’s not afraid to get down and dirty. Critics be damned.
The New York Giants’ rookie sensation made an appearance Monday night on WWE’s flagship show (Monday Night Raw) in Madison Square Garden alongside rookie LB Abdul Carter and other Giants’ teammates.
They, along with NY comedian Andrew Schultz, went into a scuffle with the wrestling trio, The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, and Dominik Mysterio). Luckily, security stepped in before things escalated further.
The segment has drawn over a million viewers on all social media platforms combined. However, it also attracted the criticism of some fans from both wrestling and football worlds.
Skattebo responded to these criticisms on X early Tuesday afternoon:
“Aye, honestly if you don’t like that I’m having a good time while dealing with a tough time, then just go ahead and unfollow and casually move on. I’m not able to play football and have the fun I’ve been having my whole life so I am doing things outside the box trying to find stuff to keep me happy. Enjoy the rest of y’all’s week and just don’t talk about me if you ain’t got nothing nice to say.”
Over three weeks ago, he suffered a season-ending ankle injury in the loss against Philadelphia. He went through emergency surgery that same night. He’s currently wearing a boot on that ankle after ditching the scooter he’s been using to move around since that fateful night.
Between the surprise WWE appearance and attending UFC 322 in the same venue, Cam Skattebo has shown people that he doesn’t want to lay low despite his ankle. He’ll have fun as much as he wants to.
